Nice To Stamp You

About Nice To Stamp You

Due to Masaaki Oyamada, his personal fascination for the craftsmanship of stamp making, since he was a youngster, it was the remark of a psychologist visiting his studio why he became greatly motivated about this project back in 2011. The psychologist mentioned “Each person possesses a unique quality or ‘essence’. If people can express their essences well, they can function better (in society) and their entire environment would also benefit from it.”

He now has done up to 500 interviews with all kinds of people and turned their stories into cherishable stamps.

By having done so, Masaaki Oyamada developed an extraordinary skill for the translation of the physical and the nonphysical form. Experienced how people where empowered by their stamp, some even carrying it around on them, or wearing it as a personal jewel.

He thrives to share his great awareness of the added value of symbolism and it’s interaction and connection with you and your imprint (stamp) on the world.

Purchasing a ’Nice To Stamp You’ – experience by Masaaki Oyamada, truly is an unique, uplifting, meditative experience on its own. This insightful experience then also gets crowned by getting to own it’s eternalization expressed into a one of a kind piece of art;

a skillfully handcrafted stamp, made by Masaaki Oyamada.

How it works

The Experience and Owning The Stamp

You will be personally interviewed for an hour or so, based on a set of especially designed and developed questions, posed by mr. Oyamada himself. The interviewee is allowed to calmly sit on these questions, that are aimed for the spontaneous surfacing of your essence at your own pass. This will take place in a safe, calm and serene environment, like … (The Bookstor).

Once he has captured a feel for the essence you transcend, he then translates the images that arise from your stories into little sketches and key words of the answers you have given him. This ‘map’ is also yours to keep. Eventually expressing his sketching into one symbol, which will be the base for your stamp design.

You can expect the stamp to be crafted and delivered to you within one month or have an open discusion on a specific date you would like it to be ready and where to receive it.

You will receive a handmade package which allows you to have your stamp stylishly presented, either way you choose to store it or have it beautifully out in the open, on display. Each stamp has a hand-crochet cover to protect the graphic. The crochet bag also allows you to be able to carry the stamp on you, while traveling or wear it as an unique piece of art / jewel to be able to cherish and enjoy for a lifetime.

Why should you do this?

This is for you…

.. if your gut feeling tells you too.

.. if you like to go on a quest that is both insightful and useful.

.. if you are looking for an unique graphic for you to keep and exploit.

.. if you want a growing understanding of how you are connected to your source of inspiration and the dynamics that goes along with it with your environment.

.. if you like to own a unique piece of artwork and handmade product telling your story.

When?

Now is a perfect time otherwise you would not have gotten this far to be reading this.

But of course, for instance starting a new life with a partner, welcoming a new family member, taking an adventurous step on a different career path;

The stamp is a suitable item for every clear milestone, or creation of a milestone in your life.

Short history on N.T.S.Y.
(Nice To Stamp You)

The project “Nice to stamp you” began with the words of a person who visited my studio. She said: “Each person possesses a unique quality or ‘essence’. If people can express their essences well, they can function better (in the society) and the whole environment would also benefit from it.” As her words started to sink in, an idea rose to my mind: Maybe my stamp making process also helps people better express themselves…

The project was launched in 2011 with the aim to help people express who they really are with their custom-made stamps. I hope my stamp making sessions are helping people to better understand each other’s qualities.

The stamp is designed based on the stories you told me during the interview session. It means that the resulting stamp design will show your state of mind at the time of the interview.

During the interview, which takes about an hour, you will be looking inside your own heart for things you cherish. I take the images that arose from your stories and express them in one symbol which will be the base for your stamp design. The interview session is thus an important process to extract your essence.

Starting a new life with a partner, welcoming a new family member, taking an adventurous step on a different career path… The stamp is a suitable item for every milestone in your life.
